Writing articles is an incredibly easy way to give your writing career a boost. Once you know how it’s done, you can earn a lot of money providing your services to others.
My writing career started many years ago, in the 1970s. Today, it’s easier than it’s ever been for anyone to make money writing. Just by writing simple Web articles, you can develop a six-figure income. Follow these simple steps.
1. Determine what the article is for. Are you trying to sell a product? Are you describing how to accomplish something? Are you trying to convey some important background information? Are you merely trying to entertain the reader?
2. Now ask yourself who you’re talking to. Your reader could be completely new to your subject or an expert. It could be a man or woman, boy or girl. It could be someone with advanced degrees or someone who struggles to read. Write to that person and you’ll write better.
3. Jot down an outline of your article. Don’t worry, it’s easy: All you need is a headline, an opening paragraph, three to four paragraphs explaining the opening paragraph and a closing paragraph. That’s it.
4. Most importantly, remember your keywords. These are the words that will show search engines what your article is about.
5. Follow your sketchy outline from step 3 when you write your article. Pretend that you are talking to a friend, using short words and sentences you would ordinarily say.
6. When you are done with your article, go on to other things. Several hours later, read it again to make sure you said everything you wanted to.
7. Read it again: Did you make any typos? Is everything spelled right?
8. Give the article to someone else to proofread it. You’d be amazed at how many errors writers miss in their own work.
9. When you submit your article, make sure you’ve followed the client’s instructions exactly. If the instructions called for a Word document, give them one. Meeting specifications will ensure you get future work.
