There are many ways to enjoy your music. In fact, being a music fan hasn’t been better. These days, with the internet, there is no limit on the access and the availability of music. For every fan of every genre, music has never been more accessible. There is so much music out there to discover, it can be difficult to listen to all of it and discover new things that you like.

Of course there are numerous ways to listen to music today. Most people download music from the internet, which allows you to listen to it on your computer, or transfer it to a portable media player. While downloading music is far and away the most popular way for young people to get music now, this practice is not exclusive to today’s generation, and the majority of music purchased today is via digital download.

Artists today seem to be more concerned with the number of downloads their new single gets then the number of albums sold. This is just another indication that the priority within the music industry has changed from producing high quality albums, to creating popular, marketable singles, that will lead to high download counts.

You didn’t necessarily buy the entire album but you could have a singles collection. Digital music is great, and CD’s are still a great way to listen to your music although not quite as convenient. Many people still want the physical ownership of a CD, but then download it to their digital device. Many people feel like if they are paying for the album, they want to have an actual copy of it and not just the digital version.

Digital downloads have forever replaced the eight tracks of the seventies, and the cassette tapes of the eighties, but surprisingly vinyl records have started to make a comeback, and are growing in popularity with today’s youth. For years there has always been some demand for vinyl records, whether it was by vinyl enthusiasts, who refused to let the format die, or more often by disc jockeys, many of whom still prefer to use vinyl records during their gigs. Vinyl admittedly cannot often the same quality recording that digital recordings can, but at the same time there is nothing that can replicate the experience and sounds of listening to a vinyl record. Whether you prefer digital recordings, or are still a fan of vinyl, the internet can provide access to almost any music you are looking for.
